Lottie Moon ChristmaS offering

While living in China, Lottie wrote letters to the Foreign Mission Board (now the International Mission Board) and to Baptist women. She asked for more missionaries and for money to grow her work among the Chinese.

Because of Lottie’s determination, WMU collected a Christmas Offering to give to the Foreign Mission Board. In 1918, at Annie Armstrong’s suggestion, WMU named the offering for Lottie Moon.  Today, we still give to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering in honor of her work and sacrifice to keep our 3,650 missionaries on the international mission field outside North America.

Annie Armstrong easter OFFERING

The offering was started in 1895 by Woman's Missionary Union® (WMU) to benefit the work of the Home Mission Board (now North American Mission Board). In 1934, it was named in honor of Annie Armstrong, a bold missions advocate and WMU's first national executive leader. Today, more than $2 billion has been donated by Southern Baptist churches and individuals to support thousands of missionaries in church planting and compassion ministries in the U.S. and Canada. Because of this sacrificial giving, millions of lives have been and continue to be transformed by the power of the gospel.
